My Geology

These rocks depicted in this lens-based installation are from a shingles beach on Lake Ontario—one where my siblings and I spent much of our childhood learning to skip rocks from our dad—in the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, as well as the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.

This photograph documents the specific location where rocks were gathered for mending and presents a multitude of timescales: the changing light throughout the day, fallen leaves as seasons progress, and rocks weathered by water, wind, and ice over the years.
